Let’s kick off 2017 with a new post format, and a history lesson.
The Galleon Trade was a method of goods exchange facilitated by Spain towards its colonies, running from 1565 to 1815. This involved galleons sailing from Manila towards Acapulco in Mexico. Once the galleons reach Central America, they stop over at Veracruz, then transferred to Havana in Cuba. The last leg of the trade involved crossing the Atlantic Ocean, landing at Seville in Spain. Many products were traded during its 250-year existence: silver, silks, porcelain, spices, avocados, coffee beans, tomatoes, cacao beans, and a lot more. By the time the Galleon Trade ended a few years before Mexico’s independence, many cultural influences from Central America have made their way towards the Philippines through the galleons.
Now, moving on. Today’s new post format, the cube, is essentially three triptych-style posts rolled into one.
