Before I begin, I’d like to greet you all a happy new year! Let’s start the year right in the same way we start most of our days: with coffee, of course!
UCC, or the Ueshima Coffee Company, takes their namesake seriously. Since its inception in the 1930s, it has been passionate in delivering only the best coffee—whether it’s instant or canned (which they pioneered in 1969). No wonder the brand is well known in Japan, with its Sumiyaki and Blue Mountain blends. You should thank businessman Hubert Young for bringing the brand here in our shores; he’s also the big man behind CoCo Ichibanya’s arrival in Manila. Currently, UCC has branches located in major cities like Quezon City, Makati, Pasig, and Taguig.
Their Kori Kohi – frozen coffee cubes served with warm milk and syrup – is a personal favorite of mine. Pour the warm milk over the coffee cubes, then add syrup to taste. Voila! You end up with cafe au lait as soon as the cubes melt. Stir, and enjoy. First introduced in the 1980s in Japan, kori kohi has become a staple drink in the country ever since. I’ve been ordering this on my past visits for good reason, and this triptych will feature some dishes from UCC I’ve paired it with.

I take back what I said earlier today: I have tried UCC Terrace. The Lucky Chinatown branch.
It was June of last year. I blogged about it but my mind blocked the memory. XD
Loved their Chicken Teriyaki Rice Casserole. And their Chocolate Xanadu was just heavenly sinful!

Oh, the Cafe Terrace! =)) That’s also the one at Trinoma I mentioned to you earlier; the one along Tomas Morato is Cafe Vienna.

If the friends’ plans are followed, I may be at TrinoMa this weekend.
BTW, would you know why their branches have names? Is it a code or something?
