(AUTHOR’S NOTE: This location of The Bunny Baker has closed. Fret not, however; according to the owners, they will be transferring to Makati. Timestamp: 17 March, 2017, 09:18 am.)
I’m sure you can’t miss Hemady Square, situated right beside Christ The King Seminary, whenever you drive along the stretch of E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue. The building is dotted with establishments like Starbucks, Anytime Fitness, and Robinsons Supermarket. However, one place stands out amidst the seemingly typical center; something that CJ and I always noticed whenever we pass by the area – The Bunny Baker.
Thus, CJ and I decided to stop by one day and check out the place. We wanted to have a fantastic breakfast and take our time enjoying it, and The Bunny Baker was the spot to go. Owners Aila and Zach Yonzon specialize in custom fondant cakes and latte art, both of which are available here. Let me segue a bit on this one. Zach Yonzon was familiar and, upon further research, I found out that he was a graphic artist who was part of Mango Comics. If you’re familiar with it, yes – you read that right; the publisher that gave us the short-lived Mango Jam comic digest and the reboot of Mars Ravelo’s Darna around a decade ago. From using a pen to create art for the eyes, he shifted to using a spoon to create art you can consume—which is a great transition, if you ask me.
Now, let’s go back to the restaurant. The place’s color scheme consists mostly of pastel colors, exuding a bright and lively theme. Chairs are designed like bunnies, with the back rests shaped like bunny ears. If not for the fondant cakes and gelato, I would have mistook this for a baby’s room. Even the movie they showed – The Boxtrolls – is something you would see in a nursery for children. We finally settled on one of the side tables, ordered our food, and enjoyed the rest of our stay.
I’ll stop here and let the pictures below show more of our meal at The Bunny Baker. Do like their Facebook page here for more updates and promotions. Until the next review, bon appetit.
